The John Gloucester House is a ministry of the Presbyterian Community Ministries of the Delaware Valley (www.presbyphl.org). Our mission is supported by the involvement of numerous contributors.
Traditionally, 70% of the general funding for JGH is provided by the Presbytery of Philadelphia. The total modest budget ranging between $150,000 - $200,000 provides for staff salaries and some operating monies. Twenty percent of the budget needs is funded by a number of Presbytery of Philadelphia congregations in the Philadelphia region. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia, various grants, and generous individuals contribute the remaining 10% of the budget.
Other regional congregations and groups have donated time, supplies and elbow grease for the maintenance of our building. Volunteers staff the programs.
We need and welcome volunteers to invest in our young people by sharing their time and energy in tutoring children in basic school subjects: English, Reading, Math, and Science. We need tutors for children in first through twelfth grades.
